What is Lent in other languages?
Since Lent is practiced all over the world, there is a word for it in almost every language. In most languages they use a word that implies "forty."
Quaresima - deriving from the Italian word for forty (quaranta)
Cuaresma - deriving from the Spanish word for forty (cuarenta)
Carême - deriving from the French word for forty (quarante)
